SPORTS MASSAGE
This is essentially a more vigorous form of Swedish and Deep Tissue massage, but with an emphasis on the needs of the athlete. Regular massage reduces trigger points and adhesions in the soft tissue, preventing injury and enhancing peak neuromuscular functioning.
Pre-event massage stimulates circulation, calms nervous tension and warms up the tissues for optimal performance while reducing the chance of injury. Post-event massage assists recovery from hard training and competition.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
A trigger point is a hyper-irritable, tender spot located in a tight band of muscle fiber. It is so named because it "triggers" a painful response, affecting not only the muscle where it is located, but also causing "referred pain" to other areas. The most common example occurs when a trigger point in the neck or shoulder refers pain upwards, causing a headache.
Trigger points are deactivated by applying deep, static pressure and repetitive stroking along the muscle fiber, followed by stretching and heat.
Longstanding trigger points may require more than one session to treat.
Trigger point therapy can be somewhat uncomfortable, therefore it is incorporated as one small part of a more relaxing massage.
CRANIO-SACRAL THERAPY
This gentle and non-invasive technique is used to assess and treat restrictions of cerebrospinal fluid flow. The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is produced by the brain and circulates within the head and up and down the spine. The pumping of this fluid creates a rhythm, or pulse, that causes a gentle, continuous movement of the bones of our bodies. Because all the nerves in our bodies originate along this path from the brain down the spinal cord, any impedance in the flow of CSF can be felt as pain anywhere in the body. Restrictions are caused by trauma, such as whiplash or a fall.
The therapist is trained to detect such restrictions and to perform techniques that will free up the flow, restoring balance to the body and relieving pain.

TMJ MASSAGE
Specific techniques to relieve discomfort associated with TemporalMandibular Joint disorders, or jaw pain. Gentle massage techniques to the anterior neck, jaw and temples can relieve jaw pain caused by teeth grinding and clenching. Using gloves, the therapist will also perform intra-oral massage, to release trigger points and adhesions in the jaw muscles.
BREAST MASSAGE
Breast massage is very effective at promoting lymphatic drainage, reducing pre-menstral tenderness and swelling and softening post-surgery scar tissue. Gentle massage techniques and discreet draping ensure the comfort of the client.
STOMACH MASSAGE
Abdominal massage is very effective at allieviating the symptoms of IBS and constipation. Specific work along the border of the diaphragm promotes easier breathing.
AROMATHERAPY
We offer a variety of natural, essential oils that can be incorporated into the massage treatment at no extra cost. Scent free massage is also available.
